Isobel, Humza, Anna and Emily came second in the regional heats after only a few months together as a team. They won the first two contests and finally ended as runners-up. An excellent result and so nearly first – we thought they won on the final speeches but perhaps lost on the Q & A.
Confident, well-prepared and fluent performances from all four on the day and it looks like they enjoyed themselves too.
Kings Norton Sixth Form stormed to success in their first debating competition. They beat three other schools to qualify for the regional finals of the prestigious national Debating Matters competition. The team – Isobel Bates, Humza Chaudhry, Vicky Griffiths and Emily Hamilton – confidently and skilfully trounced their opponents and were warmly congratulated by the judges. In preparation for the next round, the team and other keen debaters will be visiting the Houses of Parliament as guests of the local MP.
